It's good to sit
It's good to wait
it's good to set aside cares
and wipe the slate
put down the light
pick up the space
and let it go
grasp at nothing
leave no trace
there's laughter in the hollows
surprises in the stillness
that becomes a peaceful fortress
on a quiet hidden hill
where you and I can wave goodbye
and also say hello
to moments passing by us
finally taking nothing
when they go
but then again
the hurt is deep
the hurting waits
to claim its due
while we sleep
behind the glass
in seven coats
we recede
we discard
unfinished notes
there's longing in the furrows
an ache within the stillness
that surrounds
a restless figure
on a long forgotten hill
where though we try
to redefine
the things that let us know
these moments passing by us
won't take everything
as they go...

No, You Are Amazing

They know not what they do
Or they would not do it to you, child
they cling to their stories every tighter
nothing riles ‘em up quite like a fighter
They say
it’s gonna be OK
Pat your head
and walk away
But see the alpha creatures hate themselves
so much they made up nations
invented toxic waste and genocide
and alienation
they lie to you
about the world
you lie to you
about yourself
It’s not OK
but you are
more than OK
I know you don’t feel that way
but you’re so much more than OK
There’s no curtain
there’s no man
there’s no semblance
of a plan
gravely, giant toddlers
in cotillions
repeatedly mistake
hundreds for millions
they proclaim
things’ll stay the same
pat your head again
and feel no shame
see the kingpins seem to think
that their creator put them there
to lay wast to the land, the sea
each other, and the air
they lie to you
about the world
you lie to you
about yourself
and they do that, too
it’s not OK
but you are
more than OK
I know you don’t
feel that way
but you’re so much
more than OK
you are amazing

thanks for the rope
I needed something for my neck
You did a nice job on the knots
I made a trap door in the deck
But wait! My corpse is nothing
Let me offer you my child
Throw us all into the grinder
To be joyfully defiled
For permission to be hateful
We trade everything we earn
Fill our emptiness with acid
Take them with us as we burn
Blame the others
Blame the old
Blame the weather
Blame the mold
Blame yourself
It's all the same
Nothing changes
While you blame
No no no no no no no no no no
I do not understand you
You’re a scarecrow with a blowtorch
You’re an ingrown fang
You’re a rabid flaming spiteful
Kamikaze boomerang
Please sir can I have some more?
This soup is good food
I think the arsenic and benzene
Kind of elevate my mood
Shoot my foot to spite my face
Feel the power of implosion
Self-destruct to put a stop to
All the good ol’ boys’ erosion
Like vodka in the kool-aid
Fury douses creeping dread
Emptied pockets, empty lives
Runthebulls o-ver-the-dead
Blame the commies
Blame the schools
Blame the carbs
Blame the tools
Blame yourself
It's all the same
Nothing changes
While you blame
Noooooooooooooooooooooo
I do not understand you
You’re a supersonic lemming
in a death cult gang
careening self-consuming
Kamikaze boomerang
I don’t I don’t I don’t I don’t I don’t I don’t
I do not understand you!
You’re the gurgling laughter
while the cell doors clang
Leave you howling ever after
Kamikaze Boomerang
I can’t

Trust
03:07
|
|||
It’s so obvious
What to do
Until
It’s your kid
How could they do that to her?
It’s not the way he thought
How can he face himself
if he went along when he should have fought
If three people you trust suggest the same thing
That’s the thing, and if you’re still talking
Then you don’t really want
Things to change
If you don’t have
Three people you trust
I’m so sorry about what happened to you
(probably again and again and again)
But people who won’t lie to you
Are always somewhere near by
And I hope that you
Invite them in
Before you tire them out
And they turn away and
Slip out of sight
And prove you right
But no one can prove you
happy
It’s so obvious
What to do
Until
It’s your
heart
